In June 2018, Smartmatic signed a contract with the County of Los Angeles to become the prime contractor for the Voting Solutions for All People (VSAP). Smartmatic will be responsible for systems integration, engineering and manufacturing of the new voting system to be used during the 2020 elections.

In recent years Smartmatic has deployed some of its most innovative technology like the ePen in California and Virginia, and online voting in Utah.

During the 2005 and 2006 election cycles, Smartmatic sold around 60,000 voting devices and provided support services to more than 307 jurisdictions across 16 states: Arizona, California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, Nevada, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.

After Smartmatic sold its US subsidiary, Sequoia Voting Systems, it continued offering maintenance and support services for the City of Chicago and Cook County in Illinois.
