Strengthening presence in the United Kingdom
London, United Kingdom - February 7, 2019- After joining forces with CGI last December to provide technology for the electronic counting of votes in the 2020 London elections, Smartmatic continues to strengthen its presence in the UK electoral market participating in events hosted by SOLACE and the Association of Electoral Administrators.
Along with CGI, Smartmatic participated at the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives Elections Conference 2019 in London.
During this thought-provoking day, the Keynote Session was delivered by Chloe Smith MP, Minister for the Constitution.
Sonya Anderson, Smartmatic’s Senior Election Partner in the UK, made a joint presentation with CGI titled “Electoral Modernisation: Drivers for change and harnessing successful outcomes”.
The event was attended by Chief Executives and Returning Officers from across the UK. “Election administrators, those unsung heroes who have the legal responsibility of administering and delivering elections, were extremely positive and engaged throughout the event. We had great discussions about election modernisation and how they might move towards the delivery of 21st Century elections,” said Anderson.
More recently, on February 3 – 6, Smartmatic also attended the Association of Electoral Administrators (AEA) Annual Conference 2019 titled “Rising the Challenge”.
Smartmatic showcased some of the innovative election technology that has been deployed in elections in 25 countries. Voter registration devices (VIU-800), voting machines (A4-500), online voting (TIVI) and the new London e-Counting solution were shown throughout the 4-day event, providing great opportunities to discuss those challenges the UK electoral administrators are facing, and the drivers to modernise to enhance the democratic process.
